An ode to Saree
In myriad hues, bewitching styles
And ever-evolving new avtars
I reign supreme in hearts of women
I blow passions, I anoint motherhood,
I serve as a child’s nimble refuge
a sum of layers unfathomable
unflinching yet flowing as a misty fall.
A lull of waves humble in warp n weft
When weaved with closed eyes
I blossom as a six yard surprise
Nothing can beat my resilience
as constant as bond of marital bliss
worth penny or a fortune
I am sustainable, appealing to all.
I hold the person who holds me,
caress innate sensibilities,
cure wavering insecurities
about the body who drapes me
O woman! I cling to your persona
dreams apart I nurture your frills
I identify myself with you above all.
Footnote: Saree is always a dreamy attire to me, however mundane or glamorous it may be. An unstitched charisma in cotton, silk or countless fabrics, women unfailingly fall for its charm.
